ARD Hauptstadtstudio selects EVS to modernize Berlin news production with VIA MAP

EVS MediaCeption solution will be used to modernize the ARD- Hauptstadtstudio’s production environment, enabling a unified and flexible workflow for cross-media news production.

EVS, the leader in live video production technology for broadcast and new media, today announced a new agreement with ARD Hauptstadtstudio Berlin, the ARD’s central hub for reporting on German federal politics. As part of the agreement, EVS will deploy MediaCeption® solution, built around the EVS VIA Media Asset Platform (VIA MAP), a convergent asset management platform to modernize ARD - Hauptstadtstudio’s news production environment.

Being confronted with the upcoming end-of-life of its hardware-based TV production system, ARD - Hauptstadtstudio decided to modernize operations through a software-defined platform, that can be flexibly deployed on Cloud, Hybrid and On-prem environments, designed to support the growing demands of cross-media news production. From live ingest and editing to media management, playout and distribution, VIA MAP’s wide range of applications will provide journalists and production teams with a unified environment for capturing, managing, creating and delivering stories across television, web and social platforms.

VIA MAP sits at the heart of the workflow, enabling journalists and editors to collaborate while ensuring fast speed to air. Its deep, bi-directional integration with Adobe Premiere Pro gives editors the flexibility to work with the tools they already use.

The solution is complemented by robust EVS server infrastructure, with XS-VIA providing reliable ingest and playout capabilities, while XStore provides high-performance nearline storage for efficient access to content throughout the production process.

VIA MAP fits seamlessly into ARD - Hauptstadtstudio’s existing partner technology ecosystem, from NRCS and craft editing to automation, while open APIs enable the smooth integration of additional tools and systems as the newsroom evolves.
